Academic Work

In my research, I studied how one can build digital library systems that support adaptable image search. Techniques known as content-based image retrieval (CBIR) are one key-ingredient for assisting the users in their tasks, but there’s much more to it.

For instance:

“How can we built systems from reusable building blocks?“

“What are tasks the user may want to perform with the system? How can the user describe what he or she is looking for?”

“What can we do if important information about an image is missing or inaccurate like the GPS location at which an image was shot or what kind of a medical image it is?”
